COVID-19 Advice for Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women

I’m constantly amazed at the courage and strength shown by pregnant women and new mothers in the face of these uncertain times. The following is COVID-19 Advice for Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women.

COVID-19 has altered the pregnancy and new parenting experience for many women. From isolation at home, to alterations in the way perinatal care is being delivered, reduced social interaction with others to the increase in anxiety over potential scenarios many women at the moment are understandably cautious and looking for advice on the best ways to keep themselves and their new family both safe from contracting Coronavirus and safe whilst dealing with a positive test result.

Due to the ever changing and evolving advice on this subject I thought it best to direct you to the RANZCOG website for the best up to date information on pregnancy and COVID-19. I’ve also included a link for breastfeeding specific information from the Australian Breastfeeding Association. Please note it is still safe and recommended to continue breastfeeding your baby if you test positive to COVID-19. By following some simple precautions you can provide a safe feeding environment for your baby and continue that ever important physical contact and bonding with your baby. You’ll also be passing on precious antibodies to your baby whilst you continue to breastfeed them, to help them build an immune response to COVID-19 as well. I hope this helps direct those looking for reliable pregnancy and breastfeeding specific COVID-19 advice from trusted sources.

Keep safe everyone and remember we’re all in this together.
